Employ an Apprentice
Apprentices will enhance your company.
The Engineering Training Centre trains around 150 potential engineering apprentices annually for companies throughout the North East.
Initial training is delivered in our well-equipped training centre so young people are guaranteed to have the practical skills required to help boost the efficiency of your company. The skills are tailored to suit your workplace with a wide range of engineering pathways to choose from.
We specialise in apprenticeships in the following engineering disciplines:
- CNC/Conventional Machining
- Tool Making
- Welding and Fabrication
To gain a place on the course, applicants must have a good standard of education and pass the Engineering Training Centre’s numeracy and literacy tests followed by an interview.
Apprentices will then attend the Engineering Training Centre for up to a year to gain their Performing Engineering Operations Level 2, which gives them practical hands on experience in a variety of engineering disciplines including CAD, CNC programming, electrical installation, manual milling, turning, fabrication, welding and hand fitting.
They also attend a partner school or college to gain the first year of their BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Engineering. The second year is completed as a day release programme.
Apprentices will then be based at your company having completed up to a year of training and would therefore be workshop ready. Not only can we provide potential apprentice’s CVs, but also reports on their timekeeping, attendance, attitude, aptitude and housekeeping. In addition to training, we offer further support with regards to the selection and recruitment of your apprentices, to ensure that your choice matches your specific operational needs, as closely as possible.
We deliver a second year apprentice who is ready for employment with your business, and who is on track to complete their full apprenticeship.
We manage the entire apprenticeship process. This includes full monitoring and continuous support to both your company and your apprentices, to ensure that your apprentices achieve all of the desired aims of their apprenticeship programme.
